After 500 years, guess who's back in the internet? August & September have been hectic months for me. With me running for student council, managing my paperworks & projects, and hanging on to my midterms, I guess you could say that my tiny body is now drained. For the past few days, I have been doing a cheeky little routine at night in order for me to unwind and have a lot of me-time. I feel as if pampering yourself whilst being all cosy is essential once in awhile especially if you're a busy bee like me. I don't often get stressed, but when I do, tricks like these always do the job.
Okay folks, first up, remove all your makeup. I don't religiously dab on make up on my face, but when I do, I constantly remind myself to erase all the dirt. I've been full-on obsessed with this make up remover from Bioderma because it does all the work! Also, when I'm too lazy to actually swipe it off with a cotton pad, I like to take a piece of cleansing wipes instead. This Chia Seed one is from The Face Shop. I also like to do a little scrub & wash after.
Then, make yourself a warm mug of tea. Whatever tea you fancy, really. So go ahead and grab your all-time favourite mug and start sipping! I personally favour herbal teas like chamomile to help me fall into deep slumber afterwards. My favourite tea is this Lemon Detox one.
Face Masks. I never really liked them because they are massive on my face. Not until recently when my mom took a trip to Korea and began to lure me into the world of Korean skincare. It's a great way to pamper yourself and you can read a contemporary novel or something. Currently, I am addicted to these from Tony Moly. You can also go all Au Natural with organic ingredients and the mixtures are endless. My go-to combo is lemon, honey, and egg for a radiant effect!
Scented Candles. As of the moment, our house is cluttered due to renovations, but boy let me tell you, you need to light up some candles asap. Little things like these actually set the mood for the night. I like to switch off the lights and play a light-hearted chick flick. My favourite chick flick of all time? Mean Girls, ofc.
Another thing you have got to try is to let go of your phone. We often find ourselves holding on to our phones for a huge portion of the day to the extent that we highly depend on it. As an alternative, list down ideas & plans in a notepad or to-do list. Write about the things you are grateful for or create a list of things you have learned for the past week. It's great to be mindful of yourself's situation.
Headspace & Yoga. Headspace is an app that helps you develop your mindfulness. Mindfulness to me creates a peaceful aura from deep within me and this application practices your flow conveniently. I remember using this app about two-three years ago and I have just rediscovered it. Lastly, I often find myself doing yoga at home. I do not have time to go to a yoga studio, so I set out my mat on an empty room once in awhile. After a 30-minute stretch, I like to reward myself with a meditation balm (best part)!
I hope these little tips & tricks help you de-stress. What's your favourite thing to do when winding down? let me know x
