Easter is around the corner and I am glad to share a cheeky little no-bake recipe with you! I actually bumped into this on Pinterest and I'm pretty sure Zoella included this in one of her vlogs recently. But before we head on, I just wanna say that this recipe is ridiculously easy as it requires 5 simple steps. Not gonna lie though, these aren't the healthiest treats out there (considering a heap of chocolate buttons), but definitely less fatty and starchy as other goods.
Ingredients (8 servings)
- 1 package of shredded wheat
- 1 pack (180 grams) milk chocolate buttons
- 24 pastel mini eggs
Making the nests
Begin by finely crushing your shredded wheat into a bowl until they're the size of candied sprinkles. Next, melt your chocolate buttons (I used Goya) either on the microwave, or in a bowl on top of boiling water like what I did. From previous experiences, I've learned to never melt chocolate straight into a pan. Finally, mix it all together until you've got the best of both worlds evenly coated all sides with chocolate.
Building
Line your mufin/cupcake tray with 8 cupcake liners. If you're a fancy pants like me, opt for gold. Then, scoop about a table spoon and a half into your cupcake liner and gently create a nest-shape through patting the mixture into the sides, forming a small bowl to rest three mini eggs (I used Cadbury) on top.
And viola! You're finished and 5 pounds heavier. I highly suggest you don't chill them in the fridge because the wheat will harden and make it difficult to eat. If you're planning to have an easter get-together, this recipe is perfect and a little bit more light compared to your creme egg cannoli (but I definitely want one now).
All the love,
Regina
