Halloween Owl Cookies!

8:59 PM

Hello, everyone!

Initially, I'm supposed to be continuing my anxiety talk since a couple of people have actually made me realize that I am not the only one who feels that way about things. On another note, this morning, I've been scrolling through Pinterest and I've been gaining a lot of inspiration for Halloween. Today I've made quick & easy Owl cookies to get the festive 'ber' vibes going! If you wish to make these cute babies, continue reading x

The ingredients you will need:
  • Dark chocolate digestive cookies (plain would work as well)
  • Regular oreos / any cookies with a round filling
  • A cinnamon biscuit
  • Sugar free chocolate
  • Cookie butter + Peanut butter
Tools that will come in handy:
  • A tablespoon
  • Piping bag with small round tip
  • Sharp knife
  • Cheese grater

To begin, prepare your cookie butter and peanut butter mixture in a piping bag and test it out on a sheet of wax paper to see if the consistency isn't too sticky or tight.
Then, add a blob of the butter mixture onto the digestive cookie and spread until even. The digestive cookie acts as our base, but you can definitely use your favorite cookie recipe. I just find digestives to be much lighter in taste and texture making the owl easy to munch!
To add some texture on our owl, grate your chocolate. I suggest using the bigger holes rather than the tiny ones in order to achieve a messy feather look.
take off one side of the oreo leaving you with a cookie and the filling. Place two oreos side by side on the cookie to act as eyes.
Eyes wouldn't be complete without the pupils. I'm just adding two little squeezes of the butter mixture. You'll also want to slice a triangle from your cinnamon biscuit to add as a beak.

and viola! It's super simple and the butter mixture and dark chocolate incorporated makes the cookie sweet, but not too sweet. At this point, you could leave it as it is OR you could add in even more decor into it. I played around a bit by placing eyelashes, dots around the oreo, and I even replaced the grated chocolate with a blueberry vanilla crumble!

You can go recreate these non-spooky Halloween treats with your friends or little siblings and DM me your owlies on Instagram or Snapchat!

All the love, Regina
